I sent an e-mail asking for information, and from that time forward Craig and Marcela were nothing but helpful.
They answered all of my questions and very ably facilitated the whole thing.
Once we got to the Czech Republic, we continued to be pleased with IVF Vacations. Zuska met us at the
airport and helped us the whole time. If she said she would call or be someplace at a certain time, she always
was. Craig called us there to make sure all was well. Marcela, Craig and Zuska are all very hard working and
clearly dedicated to their clients and our quest for children.
We were happy with the whole process. I liked the fact that the donors are prescreened because it saves the
hassle and expense of finding a potential donor, paying for all the testing, and then finding out that she is not
suitable for some reason. Several couples I know who have gone through the typical US egg donor selection
process have had one (or 3 or 4) donors not work out and had to start over, losing precious time and money
in the process.
For us, the fact that our donor was anonymous was also a plus. Now we don’t have to study her photo and try
to figure out if our child has her nose or her chin . The clinic was able to accommodate all our donor criteria
without us having to wait.
The clinic in Zlin doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it is well run. We felt that we were in good
hands. The doctors, nurses and embryologist were all very competent and professional.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience. It really was a vacation. We took side trips to Budapest and Prague
and got to visit a part of the world we might not otherwise have seen. The whole process was amazingly
smooth from beginning to end. A little while after we got home I found out I was pregnant, 4 years after we
started trying, and this one stuck! Our son, Quinn, was born in October 2008 and we couldn’t be happier! He
is the light of our lives and worth all we went through. We are thinking of going back to try for a sibling later
this year.
